Great news for homeschoolers this week.

Not only do homeschoolers outperform their school-going peers, homeschooled adults are more socially-engaged, have higher incomes and are happier than their contemporaries who went to school, according to a new study titled Fifteen Years Later: Home-Educated Canadian Adults from the Canadian Centre for Home Education. The results are a great encouragement to all home-schooling families and to parents thinking about home-schooling.

Over in Indonesia, parents are increasingly being won over by the advantages of homeschooling. An Indonesian parent said that homeschooling gave his kids the freedom to explore and develop according to their interests.

Micaiah Wise Bilger, education reporter and religion editor at The Sentinel in Pennsylvania, says that families who homeschool deserve more of our respect. She has no regrets being homeschooled and emphasises that homeschooling was an opportunity that she would never give up.

And what about the socialisation? “We roar with laughter when people ask, ‘What about the socialisation?’” says Julie Hiniker, homeschooling mum of seven kids. “There is actually way too much for our kids to be involved in.”

A father writes about how he got so caught up with enforcing curfews that he missed the chance to encourage his daughter. Like kids, he says, parents make mistakes too.

Anyone out there like oaty fruit crumble? I haven’t tried making this one myself but the blueberries, the oats, the crumble…everything look really good in the pictures.

Are you aware that there is a Parental Alienation Awareness Day? Well, it’s on 25 April. Parental alienation is a tough topic which involves unresolved abandonment issues coming to the surface when going through a divorce or separation. It is important to be aware of what is happening for the sake of our children.

And we’ll leave you with this super cute video of baby Cory dancing to Beyonce.

    You’re welcome, Mike.

I feel that it is important to address issues such as parental alienation and to bring them out into the open so that people are aware of them and are not just going around and around in the darkness on their own.

Thanks for the link to your site and for stopping by.
